Propagator

A propagator is an enclosed unit which provides a controlled environment, particularly in terms of temperature and humidity. They are most commonly used for raising seedlings and rooting cuttings.

They generally take the form of a plastic box, the top half of which is removable and transparent. Pots or trays sit within the propagator, in which the plants grow. Heated propagators have heating cables or a heating pad in the base and a thermostat to control the temperature.

In more professional situations propagators may also contain misting or fogging devices to maintain a higher humidity within the propagator.
